Profile of Dr. Amy Weekes

Dr. Amy Weekes

Dr Amy graduated from Bristol University in England in 2006 after which she worked in clinics, volunteered in both Spain and the Cook Islands, and did a year’s small animal internship at the Royal College of Veterinary Medicine in London. Having returned to GP vet work, Amy achieved her GP certificate in Small Animal Medicine. She is married to an Aussie called Graham and has 2 children - Grace & Jack – plus a Cavalier King Charles named Ruby. The family moved from Bristol in the UK to Wynnum in 2021, where Amy began locum work before settling into one clinic in 2022. It was there that she formed close bonds with patients and their owners, which inspired her to set up her own veterinary business. The house call aspect comes Amy’s house call euthanasia experience and seeing how much calmer patients and owners are in their home environment. Amy takes pride in her calm, experienced approach to her cases, and taking into consideration owners wishes and circumstances when formulating plans. She finds herself forming close bonds with clients and their pets, and loves the connection this brings. Community is important to Amy and she takes pride in providing a calm, reassuring veterinary service to her local area. Outside of work, Amy enjoys cycling, yoga, getting into nature, being creative and spending quality time with family and friends.

Frequently asked questions

What pets do you see?

Primarily dogs and cats, guinea pigs, chickens, and other common small animals. We do not specialize in reptiles or exotic birds.

Do you offer emergencies?

We're not an emergency service. If your pet is in distress, visit a 24/7 hospital immediately.

Can I use my pet insurance?

Yes! Your policy will generally cover you in the same way as a clinic visit. We will provide you with a receipt for your claim.

How do you help anxious pets?

Our mobile vet, house call vet and home call vet services bring professional care to your home, where pets feel safest. We use calm, unrushed techniques, gentle handling, and take time to let pets adjust. No stressful car rides or unfamiliar environments—just calm, compassionate care in familiar surroundings.

What if my pet is scared of vets?

Home visit vet care is perfect for pets who are anxious about vet visits. By bringing our house call vet services to your home, we eliminate the stress of travel and unfamiliar environments. Your pet can stay in their safe space while receiving professional care.

What is a house call vet?

A house call vet (also called a home call vet or mobile vet) is a veterinarian who comes to your home to provide veterinary care. This eliminates the stress of car rides and clinic visits, making it ideal for anxious pets, senior pets, and busy pet owners. Our house call vet and home call vet services bring professional care directly to your door.

How does a home call vet differ from a mobile vet?

House call vet, home call vet, and mobile vet are all terms for the same service - a veterinarian who provides care at your home rather than at a clinic. At Vet To Me, we offer comprehensive house call vet and home call vet services, bringing all the benefits of professional veterinary care to the comfort of your home.

Can you do surgery at home?

No. We can do minor wound care and minor procedures at home, but if the surgery is major or requires anasthesia, we will need to take your pet to a pet hospital or exquiped clinic.

Can you perform diagnostic tests such as blood tests at home?

Yes, we can perform common diagnostic tests such as blood tests, urine tests, and faecal tests at home. However we cannot perform X-Ray in a home setting.

How do payments work?

We accept major cards on‑site and send itemised invoices by email.

Will you turn up on time?

Timeliness is very important to us and we will endevour to be on time for your appointment. However, unforeseen delays do occur including traffic issues, or prior apppointments requiring additional time. We will endevour to keep you informed if we are running late. Generally we suggest having an hour window from the scheduled appointment time in mind to account for unexpected delays.
